School Uniform

Kingston Primary School

School Uniform

We would like all children attending our school to follow our school uniform policy.

Uniform is purchased from our suppliers PENN UK and on line from Tesco (jumpers/cardigans only). The non-logoed items can also be purchased at other retail outlets providing they are in keeping with school colours.

  • Our red jumper and red cardigan are the key elements to our school uniform and should be worn with the school logo, these are available to purchase at either PENN UK or Tesco.

We wish children to wear:

Foundation Stage & Year 1

Girls:

  • White polo shirt, skirts, pinafore dresses or trousers in grey
  • Red & white checked summer dresses or two piece top and skirt in warm weather (from Summer term to Autumn half-term).
  • White socks or grey tights
  • Red jumpers or cardigans embroidered with our school logo

Boys:

  • White polo shirt, trousers or ‘school’ shorts in grey
  • Socks for boys should be single coloured in black or grey
  • Red jumpers or cardigans embroidered with our school logo

Years 2-6

Girls:

  • Red jumper/ cardigan with school logo, white shirt, Kingston School tie, skirts, pinafore dresses or trousers in grey
  • Red & white checked summer dresses or two piece top and skirt in warm weather (from Summer term to Autumn half-term).
  • White socks or grey tights

Boys:

  • Red jumper with school logo, trousers or ‘school’ shorts in grey, white shirt, Kingston School tie
  • Socks for boys should be single coloured in black or grey

Sturdy school shoes and sandals in black are encouraged. Knee length or ankle boots are discouraged as they are often difficult for the children to sit cross-legged on the floor and are not in character with the school uniform image.

In a bid to promote healthy feet, the wearing of trainers during the day is discouraged.

Long hair should be tied back, or preferably plaited. This not only helps prevent the spread of head lice,

but it is smarter and more practical for the school day. Extreme ‘gelling’, and extreme hairstyles is to be discouraged.

We are keen to promote a smart image and discourage fashion styling or alternative style shirts, jumpers,

cardigans or fancy coloured hair accessories, especially if they are in non-school colours.

We do reserve the right to insist that what we judge to be inappropriate clothing, or any extreme fashion

styling, is not worn in school.  Football kit / sports wear is for PE and games only and NOT for day wear.

Clothing for PE

Indoors:  All work in the hall is performed barefoot or plimsolls.  Long hair must be tied back for apparatus, gym or swimming. Earrings must be removed.

PE Kit:  Black shorts and plain red sports T shirt with Kingston logo (available from PENN Sports).

Outdoors:  Plimsolls or trainers are necessary, preferably with a change of socks.

Tracksuits can be worn for warmth (PENN Sports shop has a range of track suits some with the Kingston Logo but these are not compulsory).

Jewellery Children with pierced ears should only wear simple studs to school.  No other type of jewellery should be worn to school unless it is part of their ethnic cultural background.

Makeup Children should not wear makeup or nail varnish to school.

Watches are the responsibility of the child.  We suggest that children do not wear watches until they are old enough to look after them.  Please ensure any ‘alarms/bleepers’ are not set for in-school time.     Thank you for helping us promote neatly presented children!
